Advance care planning week starts today

The government of Australia is encouraging people to talk about something awkward. Today the government is launching a campaign about end-of-life care planning. End-of-life care planning concerns individuals and families getting together to plan how people want to be treated in their final days. This ties into the advance care planning week that starts today.

Advance care planning week

Advance care planning week is all about encouraging people to plan for their eventual end of life needs. Let’s face it, everybody is going to need end-of-life care planning at some point! over the coming week, there’ll be a lot of conversation about this and that is a good thing. After all, it’s stressful enough when someone gets to the end of their life and it’s time to say goodbye to the family and friends. The last thing you want to add to this is confusion about finances and how they wish to be treated.

Simple plan to reduce major stress

Imagine, for example, somebody who suffers an unexpected health complication. How should this matter be handled if the person is unable to communicate suddenly? How will you know what their wishes are concerning what sort of treatment they are willing to undergo or not? Ultimately, it’s the responsibility of Australians to take this burden off their friends and family, and the government, by putting in place a simple plan to deal with possible eventualities.

It’s not morbid, it’s a kindness to those you love. Learn more about end-of-life care planning here
